I’m not much of a MMORPG player, and there’s a reason for that. I hate the barrier to entry. I hate the idea of wandering around for a long time as a total n00b. I imagine there others like me.

I thought it would be interesting to have a game where you start as a moderately powerful character, only to suffer a mishap at some mid-point in the game and get knocked back to a wiser-but-weaker character. Perhaps then you would be *required* to assist some n00b, or even get some stronger n00b to help you. This would accomplish two things:

1. Decrease the barrier to entry, since you wouldn’t be puny upon arriving to the game.
2.  Create a drive for more experienced members to recruit and assist newer members. Sometimes this develops organically anyway, but it couldn’t hurt to have a pressure in that direction.
