More Scientific Sleep
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009You may have heard of the sleep number bed–it allows the sleeper to adjust the firmness of the sleep surface by changing the inflation of the underlying air chambers.
Here’s the innovation: take the system one step further and have the bed adjust automatically to the unconscious movements (and other biometric data) of the sleeper. This way, one can drift to sleep in the arms of a super-soft bed, then remain asleep as the bed firms up throughout the night, for instance.
This would be good for pillows, too. I find that my neck has different needs throughout the night.
