LARP idea
I want to run a LARP based on Frederik Pohl’s “The Coming of the Quantum Cats.”
Basically, everyone invited would be playing themselves… sort of. Instead of their current selves, they’d be playing versions of themselves from alternate histories. Histories with different presidents, different technology, different social mores, etc.
Each individual would be from a different para-timeline, and each timeline would have split at some different point in the past. Each individual would help create their character, who may have made different choices in a similar world, or who may have lived in a very different world alltogether.
I don’t have a plot or anything fancy like that yet, but I like the premise

Oh, god I would have too many branching paths to choose from.
:P

I can’t wait to see this one — I read “Coming of the Quantum Cats” like 15 years ago and still love it.

Sounds cool. Mike did something similar, though not as broad, with 23 Skidoo (we could play ourselves or others, but they didn’t have to be the same ourselves, because the world was somewhat different…) Definately something that can work, if you can structure it so the characters have reasons to work together, but also reasons to work against each other (though Christian’s done some fun and interesting things with games where everyone is essentially on the same side.)
